Copy of ALL PRODUCT CARE
Every Mala Elements piece is handcrafted using natural gemstones, pearls, precious metals and traditional craftsmanship. With a little care and attention, your jewellery can be worn, loved and treasured for many years to come.
As a general rule to keep your jewellery looking its best, we recommend removing it before swimming, showering and exercise, and avoiding direct contact with perfumes, lotions, sunscreen and household chemicals.
Stone Beads
Much of our jewellery features natural stone beads, while some stones are perfectly comfortable around water, others are naturally softer or more porous and may be damaged by prolonged exposure. For this reason, we recommend researching the specific properties of your stone if you intend to have your beads around water.
Natural stone beads are durable and designed to be worn and enjoyed, however care should be taken to avoid knocks, impacts and dropping onto hard surfaces, as gemstones can crack or chip if subjected to force.

Wooden Beads
As natural materials, wooden beads should be protected from exposure to water and moisture. Over time, natural wood may develop additional richness in colour through wear. This is a normal part of the ageing process and contributes to the unique beauty of each piece.

Precious Metals
Our Gold Vermeil jewellery features a thick layer of 18ct gold over Sterling Silver.
Keep your Vermeil jewellery away from water where possible, including showers, swimming pools, and sweaty workouts, as moisture can dull the gold layer.
Give It a Quick Refresh: If your Vermeil hasn’t been worn for a while or is looking a bit off-colour, a quick dip in warm soapy water can help. Be sure to pat dry thoroughly with a soft cloth afterward.
Store Carefully: Use a soft pouch or jewellery box to prevent scratching and tarnishing. Keep it away from hard surfaces or abrasive items.
Please avoid using silver or gold liquid jewellery cleaners, as they may strip the gold plating.

Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is loved for its versatility and shine, but it’s prone to tarnishing without care:
Wear Often: Sterling silver shines brighter the more you wear it. Natural oils from your skin help prevent tarnish.
Minimise Tarnish: Sterling silver can oxidise quickly when not worn and exposed to air. Store it in an anti-tarnish pouch or zip lock plastic bags.
Avoid Harsh Substances: Chlorine, salt water, and household cleaners can cause tarnishing or damage.
Polish with Care: Use a specialised silver polishing cloth for light tarnish, or warm soapy water and a soft cloth for deeper cleaning. Avoid abrasive materials to keep the surface smooth,

Solid Gold
Highly durable and naturally resistant to tarnishing, making it ideal for everyday wear.
To maintain its shine, avoid exposure to harsh chemicals and clean periodically with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
Should tarnishing occur, the original shine can usually be restored with a quality silver or gold polishing cloth. However please do not use these cloths on your Gold Vermeil

Pearls
South Sea and Freshwater Pearls are among nature's most beautiful treasures. As organic gems, pearls require a little more care than many other jewellery materials.
Perfumes, hairsprays, cosmetics and cleaning products can gradually affect the lustre of pearls, so we recommend pearls are the last thing you put on and the first thing you remove at the end of the day.

Gemstones
While many gemstones are suitable for everyday wear, they should be treated with care to preserve their beauty.
We recommend removing gemstone jewellery before strenuous physical activity and taking care to avoid knocks, impacts and contact with hard surfaces, as some stones can chip, crack or scratch if subjected to force.
Over time, lotions, sunscreen, soap and everyday residue can build up around gemstones and settings, affecting their appearance and sparkle. To gently clean your gemstone jewellery, use warm water, a mild soap and a soft-bristled brush, taking care around delicate stones and settings.
