OUR MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP

Check the measurements against our chart here to get your ring size.
Be sure to check the sizing on the finger that will most be wanting to wear the ring on.

TIPS ON MEASURING YOUR RING SIZE;
Make sure your fingers are at a "normal" size when you measure them. Fingers shrink a bit in cold weather, and they swell after you've had alcohol, after you've exercised.
If your knuckle is particularly big, you may want to choose a bigger ring size so that the ring can fit over the knuckle
Size differences between your left and right hand often exist! Fingers are also fickle creatures that like to change sizes through the seasons (eg when you're in hot weather, they may swell a little)
What's a good fit like? Your ring should slip on easily, but be snug and slightly difficult to remove

FAQ
Where is Mala Elements jewellery made?
All Mala Elements jewellery is handcrafted in Bali, Indonesia by skilled local artisans. Founded in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the business was created to help support local employment while celebrating the enduring skills of traditional Balinese jewellery makers.
Who makes Mala Elements jewellery?
Many of our beaded necklaces and bracelets are made in-house by the women who work in our Seminyak store. Our team is involved in every stage of the process, from selecting gemstones and pearls through to designing, stringing and finishing each piece by hand.
Over the years, their skills have been refined through thousands of hours of hands-on experience and they are now highly skilled in stone and pearl stringing, traditional mala knotting, and fine beaded jewellery making.
Are your gemstones, pearls, silver and gold genuine?
Yes. We use genuine gemstones, natural stone beads, Freshwater Pearls, South Sea Pearls, Sterling Silver and Gold Vermeil and solid Gold throughout our collections
All of our silver jewellery is crafted from genuine .925 Sterling Silver and we stand behind the quality and authenticity of our materials. Since 2020, we have worked closely with some of Bali's most trusted and experienced silversmiths and goldsmiths to create our jewellery.
We are a small-batch business and many of our pieces are one-of-a-kind or produced in limited quantities. Our solid gold jewellery is primarily handcrafted in 14ct gold, with selected designs also available in 9ct gold.
Our Gold Vermeil jewellery features a thick 2 micron layer of 18ct gold over Sterling Silver, offering a beautiful and durable alternative to solid gold while maintaining the use of precious metals throughout the piece.
We are committed to transparency and provide detailed material information on our product pages.
All South Sea Pearl jewellery is supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity, and if you have any questions about a particular piece, our team is always happy to provide additional information about the materials used and how it was made.
Are your gemstones natural?
Yes. We use natural gemstones and stone beads throughout our collections. We do not offer lab grown or synthetic gemstones. As gemstones are natural materials, variations in colour, pattern and inclusions are to be expected and are part of what makes each piece unique.
Will my jewellery look exactly like the photographs?
Because we work with natural gemstones, pearls and other natural materials, every piece is unique. While we strive to accurately represent our jewellery, slight variations in colour, pattern, shape and size should be expected and are part of what makes handcrafted jewellery so special.
Many of our one of a kind pieces are exactly as photographed. This will highlighted in the product description.
Can I customise my jewellery?
Yes, absolutely. Because our jewellery is handmade in Bali, customisations to many of our existing designs are possible. We also create bespoke jewellery, including gemstone jewellery, pearl jewellery, necklaces, bracelets, rings and meaningful one-of-a-kind pieces.
Whether you're looking to personalise an existing design, create a special gift or bring a completely new idea to life, our team is happy to discuss the possibilities with you.

South Sea Pearls vs Freshwater Pearls What is the difference?
South Sea Pearls and Freshwater Pearls are both genuine cultured pearls, however South Sea Pearls are generally rarer and more valuable. Cultivated in the warm waters of Indonesia, Australia and the Philippines, South Sea Pearls are prized for their exceptional luster, luxurious appearance and beautifully round shapes.
One of the key differences is how they are produced. A South Sea oyster typically produces just one pearl at a time and the cultivation process can take several years. Freshwater pearl mussels can produce multiple pearls at once and generally have a much shorter cultivation period. This difference in rarity and production contributes significantly to the value of South Sea Pearls.
What are Mala Beads?
Traditionally used for meditation and prayer, Mala beads are necklaces made from 108 beads and have been used for centuries in Hinduism, Buddhism and Yoga. Today, many people wear malas for their beauty and connection to natural materials.
Why do Mala beads have 108 beads?
The number 108 holds special significance in several Eastern traditions. Traditionally, 108 beads are used to count mantras, prayers or breaths during meditation.
Do I need to meditate to wear a mala?
Not at all. While malas have traditionally been used for meditation and prayer, many people wear them because they are drawn to their earthy colours, the way they feel, their meaning and relaxed bohemian style.
Can I customise a Mala necklace?
Yes. As all of our malas are handcrafted in Bali, adjustments to length, stone type, tassels and bead numbers are all totally possible.
